Dropdownlist selected value not updating

So, the solution that works for me is to program the Grid View’s Updating Row Event.

That is, get the value from the dropdownlist, and set it in the event.

Data Source = null; //Nothing changes except for the Data Source property */ ddl Test. //Parameter name: value } } } Of course in the real world case I bind in different events (event handlers, Page_Init) and have some more complex logic for what to databind to but the bug is reproduceable in this simple scenario.

div:nth-child(35):after { content: " Insert Code"; padding-right: 5px; font-size: 0.8em; } #writepost Cont .feedback Note { margin: 15px 0; font-size: 1.3em; } #category Heading, #Select Category { display: none !

var view Model = { // These are the initial options available Countries: ko.observable Array(['France', 'Germany', 'Spain']) }; // ... view Model.available Countries.push('China'); // Adds another option // Constructor for an object with two properties var Country = function(name, population) { this.country Name = name; this.country Population = population; }; var view Model = { available Countries : ko.observable Array([ new Country("UK", 65000000), new Country("USA", 320000000), new Country("Sweden", 29000000) ]), selected Country : ko.observable() // Nothing selected by default }; element, KO will leave the user’s selection unchanged where possible.

Basically, the scenario I have is that I have a foreign key column in my Grid View that I want to show as a Drop Down List of values.

The code below shows me the values in the Drop Down List, but when I update it with the “edit” of the Grid View row, the value does not get saved.

So, for a single-select drop-down list, the previously selected option value will still be selected, and for a multi-select list, all the previously selected option values will still be selected (unless, of course, you’ve removed one or more of those options). So, I guess I should have know the answer to why the following does not work. There is a simple page with a single Drop Down List. Selected Value = "3"; //Selected Index is 2, Selected Value is "3", Selected Item is {3} ddl Test.If the control is databound and a Selected Value is set programatically and then the control is databound again with datasource that does not contain the same value an exception is thrown. Page { protected void Page_Pre Render(object sender, Event Args e) { //Selected Index is -1, Selected Value is "", Selected Item is null ddl Test. Clear Selection(); /* if you uncomment this block you still get the exception although the values can change slightly on the ddl Test. Clear row //Selected Index is 0, Selected Value is "1", Selected Item is {1} ddl Test. Here is the code and what it looks like running: Notice that even though I’m using Bind rather than eval, the value does not stick.

Well, we always have a reason so I believe it is not working because Selected Value only has a Get (it’s read only) and the value can not be put back.
