The only town in the United States by that name is Competition Missouri.
The high school was closed in 1951, however the elementary school 1st through 8th grade remained open until the 1990s.
Early on, it was known as Newburg, or "The Burg" as it was known to its residents.
When the post office was established, the name was changed because a city named Newburg already existed in Phelps County, Missouri.
